Did you know that platypus can be found throughout the Molonglo, Queanbeyan and Murrumbidgee Rivers and even in Lake Burley Griffin! August is platypus month, when these shy and secretive creatures start becoming more active (and easier to spot) as they are feeding and finding mates in the lead up to their breeding season.
For your chance to spot a platypus, join us for a Sunday afternoon platypus walk at the Queanbeyan River, meeting at the Isabella St footbridge, starting at 4:30pm. This event is suitable for all ages and there is no charge.
Also see the attached flier for the full range of activities Waterwatch is running in August to help everyone understand more about these marvellous monotremes.
