"Young Rangers Club" - Jerrabomberra Wetlands

The "Young Rangers Club" is a new initiative from the Woodlands & Wetlands Trust aimed at young nature enthusiasts between the ages of 8 and 15 who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in relation to the natural environment.

The Club gets together at Jerrabomberra Wetlands on the third Sunday of each month from 10am to12pm to explore a variety of nature-based topics with local experts.

Evening Presentation Series put on by the Woodlands & Wetlands Trust.

Ever wondered about the hydrology and geology of Jerrabomberra Wetlands and how it came to be the interesting place it is today? Well wonder no more! Renowned expert in the field, Ian Lawrence, will be along to tell us all about it.

Presentation (including questions) at the Wetlands Offices from 6pm-7pm followed by a light supper.


Mothers' Day Wetlands Discovery Tour


Sunday, 8 May 2016 - 10:00am to 11:30am

Put on by the Woodlands & Wetlands Trust. Treat Mum to a Mothers Day with a difference! Get the family together to enjoy a morning with nature, fresh air and a bit of exercise by going for a stroll around Jerrabomberra Wetlands with the Ranger.

Why not bring a picnic lunch and make a day of it?  Tea, coffee and light refreshments provided.

All Mums receive a special gift.


World Wetlands Open Day

The Woodlands and Wetlands Trust, in partnership with the ACT Government, are hosting an exciting and fun-filled open day at Jerrabomberra Wetlands to celebrate World Wetlands Day, and would like Canberra to come along and help celebrate. Gold coin donation entry: all proceeds support the work of the Trust at Jerrabomberra Wetlands.There will be:

  • A huge variety of stalls and activities for the whole family including wetland discovery walks leaving every half hour, heritage tours, live music, art displays, indigenous cultural activities, outdoor photographic exhibitions, a variety of children’s activities, food, and lots more.
  • A ‘cycle café’ along the bike path for those wishing to ride to the event.

Friends of Jerrabomberra Wetlands Activities

Thursday 14 May - Frogwatch and spotlight survey, will start from the Wetlands offices at 6pm. Wear warm clothes, good solid shoes or gumboots, and bring a small torch or headlamp. All welcome. This is a great activity to do with older children.

Meet: at the Jerrabomberra Wetlands offices***, Sunday 9.30am

Planned activities: Planting near the billabongs and Jerrabomberra Creek silt trap. If you'd prefer to take photos or do bird or wildlife observations, we'd be happy to have you along too!

Please wear suitable clothes, sturdy footwear, a hat, and bring water.

We'll finish up with a late morning tea back at the Wetlands offices.
