Where: Mount Mugga Mugga. Meet at Wallangara St., O’Malley

What: Weed removal

Tools: Bring a small mattock or weeding tool if you have one. We will have some pruners for woody weeds too.

Please wear suitable clothing, especially long sleeves, sun hat, sturdy footwear, and strong gardening gloves.

Bring a day pack and do carry water.


Michael McKernan talk at Tuggeranong Homestead

Michael McKernan, popular Canberra writer and respected historian, will be giving another talk at Tuggeranong Homestead on Sunday 28 August at 2pm. His last talk was booked out.

His topic: 'Writing about Canberra: doomed from the very beginning?
Michael McKernan is trying to write a book aimed at helping Australians to love their national capital. Is he mad?


Isaacs Ridge Mount Mugga Mugga Park Care Group

The Isaacs Ridge Mount Mugga Mugga ParkCare Group is a small group of volunteers who meet on the second Sunday of each month to carry out weed management and other conservation activities in Mugga Mugga and Isaacs Ridge Nature Reserves. Some volunteers also work at other times during the month.

Mount Mugga Mugga and Isaacs Ridge Nature Reserves stretch from Hindmarsh Drive to Long Gully Road, bounded by the suburbs of O’Malley and Isaacs on the west and Mugga Lane on the east.

Scrivener Hill Project - Sign to be unveiled by Minister

Scrivener Hill is a suburban reserve adjacent to the Mount Mugga Mugga Reserve which is part of Canberra Nature Park . It is largely cleared rocky hilltop with poor quality grass cover and an abundance of weeds.

This little known landmark was named after Charles Robert Scrivener (2 November 1855 - 26 September 1923), an Australian surveyor, and the person who surveyed numerous sites in New South Wales for the selection of a site for the Australian Capital Territory and Australia's capital city, Canberra.

Help ACT Parks and Conservation Service, ParkCare and Greening Australia plant 2,500 Allocasuarina Verticillata to provide food for the threatened glossy Black Cockatoo

When: Wednesday 18th May, 9:30 am - 1:30pm, followed by a BBQ lunch.

What to bring: Please bring a hat, sunscrean, long sleeves, gardening gloves, long pants, sturdy boots and long pants.
