Event Details

  • Date:

The final landcare event for young people aged 18-35 as part of the Landcare for our Future Series with Southern ACT Catchment Group.

Join us for the final official Landcare for our Future event- tree planting on a property near Uriarra 🌱🌻 Whether or not you’ve come along to any of these events before- this is your last chance! Everyone is welcome (as long as you’re roughly 18-35)- so invite your mates, your siblings, your mortal enemies- no experience required.

Landcare for our Future has been designed for young people– to introduce you to landcare, connect you with other like-minded people, and make a difference to our local environment together.

On Saturday 26th June, we have 400 trees to plant as part of a revegetation project improving habitat connectivity on a property in the Uriarra area. We’re looking forward to a lovely day of planting, chats and a morning tea break- tea, coffee and snacks provided. Let us know if you have any dietary requirements.

When: Saturday 26th June, 10.00AM-2:00PM (though we hope to finish before 2pm)

Where: Two Sticks Road, Uriarra- about a 30 min drive from Central Canberra. More details will be provided upon RSVP.

Bring: sun protection and a water bottle, wear sturdy enclosed shoes, long pants and long sleeves that can get dirty, and some really warm clothes.

Optional: If you have them, bring your own gardening gloves and small hand trowel/shovel.

We have clean tools and gloves, and will give training and instructions on how to use them safely.

If you need assistance with transport- get in touch at and we may be able to arrange some car-pooling.

NOTE: In the event of terrible weather, this event will be rescheduled and all RSVP’s notified.

Landcare for our Future is designed to introduce young people to Landcare and:

🍃Give you new skills in tackling invasive plants, managing erosion and track maintenance, ecosystem monitoring and planting. You can use these skills for landcare in the future, or just caring for your own backyard!

🍃Connect you with other like-minded young people and build a strong network of young people who care about the environment in Canberra.

🍃Connect you with local landcare and parkcare groups in Canberra, and allow for knowledge sharing together.

🍃Make a difference repairing some of our native ecosystems both rurally and right in our Canberra parks and reserves.

🍃Be FUN! We won’t just be working hard, we will be snacking, chatting and having some fun social times as well.

Bring your friends, your colleagues, your siblings- don’t forget to sign up! Places at each event are limited due to COVID safety protocols, so first come first served.
