Who We Are

Rocks were introduced to create habitat

Yate Gardens Park is currently a quiet, underutilised space featuring a small playground with aging equipment, a few mature eucalypts, 19 new trees planted by TCCS in September 2023, and a large area of periodically mown exotic grasses (including African Love Grass). Despite its potential, the park attracts minimal wildlife, with birdlife limited to common mynas, noisy miners, wattlebirds, and magpies.

Our vision is to turn this space into an attractive and ecologically rich environment that supports a wider range of local wildlife, while also encouraging the neighborhood to use the park for recreation and education.

Our Aims

We are starting small but thinking big! Our initial steps include:

    1. Creating Indigenous Gardens: We will establish two small gardens featuring local grasses, forbs, and shrubs to enhance biodiversity and provide habitat for small birds and pollinators.
    2. Caring for Existing Trees: We will nurture the park’s mature eucalypts and the newly planted trees to ensure their health and growth.
    3. Building Community Connections: By transforming Yate Gardens into a focal point for the neighbourhood, we aim to strengthen community ties and encourage residents to spend more time outdoors.
