A fond farewell to Ian Crabb

The Southern ACT Catchment Group bid a fond farewell to Ian Crabb last December. Ian was the teacher at the Lions Youth Haven ‘Ed Shed’ for 5 years.

He had an amazing talent for reengaging students with learning through the program which focussed on farm animals and farm skills. Part of this also included the monthly Waterwatch monitoring of both the main farm dam and its associated creek. Students also assisted with the seasonal macro-invertebrate surveys. Their contribution included an entire ‘reach’ of the SACTCG section of the Catchment Health Indicator Program (CHIP).

The ‘Ed Shed’ program was so popular that it worked full time to cater for the needs of several government high schools and primary school in the ACT.

We wish all the best for Ian in his retirement.
