The Green Army is a hands-on, practical environmental action programme funded by the Australian Government that supports local environment and heritage conservation projects across Australia.
The Southern ACT Catchment Group, in partnership with the Ginninderra Catchment Group, Molonglo Catchment Group and Landcare ACT have already run 2 very successful Green Army teams in the ACT, working in many parks and reserves providing needed asssitance to about 30 parkcare and landcare groups.
Green Army in the ACT have been very successful and the partners have received very positive feedback about the model they are using in the ACT.
Landcare ACT has been successful with an additional 2 teams under the next round of the program. This means that the catchment groups will use 7 teams up until Dec 2017 to support our work. 2 teams will run concurrently throughout 2017, one of which will be an Aboriginal Land Management Team.
Conservation Volunteers is the Service Provider for all our teams.
The next team starts on the 21st March.
These teams and are available for free to undertake conservation work for ParkCare and Landcare Groups and rural Landholders. They work under Catchment Group direction and their work schedule will continue to be booked by the Catchments Groups only.
