It’s been a devastating summer, and particularly sad to see Namadgi burning- a place where I’m sure many of us have spent a lot of our time connecting with and looking after. The Orroral Valley Fire has so far burnt over 84, 934 Ha and caused untold damage to our regional biodiversity.
Southern ACT Catchment Group is in the initial stages of gathering volunteer support for biodiversity recovery: potential working bees or other support actions for Namadgi once it’s safe to do so. As a start, we have launched an expression of interest form to collect contact details of those who are interested in volunteering for Namadgi bushfire recovery in the coming months. Please keep in mind we are still planning, organising and waiting for more information; and it will be some time before we are allowed into the park, as this crisis is ongoing. In saying that, we would love to have a solid volunteer base who are ready when the time comes.
If you don’t have the time to volunteer, please consider a donation to SACTCG to help with coordination of volunteer efforts.
